Kulus is the younger brother of the Thunderbird. Instead of feathers, he has a great coat of warm white down. It is said that when it becomes too hot, Kulus sheds this coat and becomes human for some time. He is a highly protective spirit. According to several creation stories, he flew down from heaven, shed his coat, and became human. Once on Earth, he became the founder of a tribe or clan.
