Napachie Sharky

Born in 1971 (Cape Dorset, Nunavut) – Died in 2018

Napachie Sharky was born in Cape Dorset, the capital of the Inuit art in Nunavut. His mother Ragee Killiktee, is a carver and the daughter of master carver Kuppapik Ragee. Napachie’s older brother, Toonoo Sharky, is also a very famous carver.
Despite all these influences, Napachie has evolved in his own particular style. His interest in the world around hi is evident in his range of subjects. He is however best known for his carvings of bird life, for which his open, delicate style is ideally suited. Most of his carvings are made from serpetine, a hard stone from the same family as jade.
