Tappaungai Qatsiya

One original hand-carved sculpture by Inuit artist, Tappaungai Qatsiya. One owl family carved out of serpentine.

Tappaungai Qatsiya (B. 1986) is an Inuit artist from Iqaluit, Nunavut. He learned to carve at the age of 10, by watching his father and grandfather at work. He currently resides in Kinngait (Cape Dorset).
He is known for his small and creative carvings, which depict a variety of traditional and contemporary subjects. His works are quite elaborate and often include several different stones and materials, all intricately carved.
