Rachel Ootoova is an Inuit art sculptor from Iqaluit, Nunavut. She studied at the Nunavut Arctic College. Being only one of the few female carvers in Nunavut, her feminine touch make for unique and powerful pieces. Rachel Ootoova sculpts mostly in basalt and caribou antler. Basalt is a volcanic stone, therefore a very hard stone to carve with. However, her sculptures are always full of movement, delicacy and grace.
