David Shaa
David Shaa is a young Inuit sculptor from Kinngait, following in the footsteps of his renowned family of artists. As the son of Isaaci Petaulassie and grandson of Aqjangajuk Shaa, he grew up surrounded by masterful carving, naturally developing his own artistic skills.
In his early 20s, David has begun making a name for himself with his finely crafted dancing bears and inukshuks—traditional subjects that reflect both his heritage and his deep connection to Inuit sculpture. His work is characterized by strong form, smooth finishing, and a sense of movement that brings his pieces to life. With each carving, David continues to refine his technique, honoring his family’s legacy while carving his own path in the world of Inuit art.
