Joe Greene Jr. is from the Cayuga (Wolf Clan) Nation. His Cayuga name is Hanadiyahs. He learned to carve when he was 9 years old from his father and grandfather. He has been carving for many years with most of his sculptures going into private collections. Joe is a self confessed fisherman and hunter, which helped him grow his spiritual connection to the land.

Joe Greene carves primarily in caribou antler and soapstone. Each major sculpture takes him from 5 to 6 weeks from concept to completion. The completed carving is then coloured with walnut dye, which he creates from trees on his land.
