Allan Oshutsiaq, a talented Inuit art carver hailing from Kinngait (Cape Dorset), known as the hub of Inuit artistry, leads a lifestyle deeply intertwined with the land, relying primarily on hunting and fishing for sustenance.

Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of esteemed sculptors, Allan has developed a distinctive flair for crafting bears, particularly those depicted in dynamic poses such as walking or dancing, as well as inuksuit, the iconic stone landmarks of the Arctic landscape.

Proudly upholding the traditions of his craft, Allan adheres to the time-honored method of carving, personally sourcing his materials from open-pit mines scattered across Baffin Island. His preferred mediums include marble and serpentine, the latter being a local stone abundant in the open-pit mines of Nunavut. Serpentine, akin in composition to jade, presents a formidable challenge due to its hardness, demanding an abundance of artistic skill and vitality to shape it into intricate forms.
