David Arnasungaaq (B. 1964) is an Inuit artist from Baker Lake, Nunavut. He is the son of the late Barnabus Arnasungaaq, one of the leading figures in contemporary Inuit art. He learned to carve from his father and the two have comparable styles. Just like his father, David carved primarily in basalt, a very hard volcanic stone that many Baker Lake artists work with. As dictated by the nature of this martial, his works are sparse with detail. Still, the few incised marks evoke great emotion.
