Born in 1969 (Igloolik, Nunavut)

Ross Kayak is an inuit artist from Iglulik. Born in 1969, he is the son of Marius and Yvonne Kayotak. Ross Kayak Both of his parents are accomplished artists and their works, particularly those of his mother had an immense influence on his artistic practice. His siblings Heather and Clara Kayotak are also well known artists for their whale bone sculptures.

Whalebone carvings is a rarity and regional to the Northwest and the Arctic. It is rarely found anywhere else. Of all sculpture media this is the hardest to carve. When completed, however, there is a sculpture of character and uniqueness.
