Nujalia Quvianaqtuliaq

Born in 1972 in Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Nunavut, Nujalia Quvianaqtuliaq is a contemporary graphic artist and printmaker whose career began in 2014 as a lithography apprentice at the renowned Kinngait Studios. His work is distinguished by striking portrayals of the Arctic landscape—minimal rocky terrains set against deep, luminous blue seas. Wildlife, such as polar bears and owls, sometimes appears in these scenes, adding to their narrative depth. Quvianaqtuliaq’s careful use of bold yet balanced colours creates a vivid sense of contrast and perspective, drawing the viewer into his world. His art has been exhibited both across Canada and internationally, and his work is represented in significant collections, including the Canada Council Art Bank.
