Palanga Lyta

Palanga Lyta is an emerging Inuit carver from Kimmirut, Nunavut, whose work is steadily gaining attention among collectors of contemporary Inuit art. Though still early in his artistic path, he demonstrates a natural assurance in shaping stone and a thoughtful sensitivity to form.

Working primarily in serpentine, a stone prized for its density and smooth finish, Palanga focuses on traditional northern subjects such as drum dancers, hunters, and figures inspired by Inuit daily life. His carvings are carefully balanced and precisely polished, giving each piece a quiet strength and refined presence.

Inspired by the surrounding landscape and the enduring traditions of his community, Palanga’s work reflects the cultural importance of these figures as symbols of guidance, survival, and connection to the land. Through his sculptures, he honours a long-standing artistic heritage while expressing it with a clean, contemporary sensibility that feels both respectful and fresh.
