Matha Tickie really loved to make carvings. She learned new things all the time and she liked to experiment on her own.Her grandfather taught her how to carve when they lived on the Kazan River. She carved from March to August and took July off. She built herself a cabin at Prince River and that’s where she went in July.
We can find her artworks in prestigious collections, such as The Canadian Museum of Civilization, The Dennos Museum Center, The Prince of Whales Northern Heritage Center, The Winnipeg Art Gallery. In 1992 ,Martha was invited to attend the opening of the “Women in the North”.
