Oqituq Shaa is a promising young Inuit sculptor from Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Nunavut, born in 1999 or 2000. At his young age, he is part of a new generation of artists carrying forward Kinngait’s internationally respected carving tradition.

Working primarily with serpentine stone, Oqituq creates expressive and dynamic animal figures, especially polar bears, that showcase both strength and movement. His carvings reflect a confident hand and a deep respect for the land and wildlife that inspire much of Inuit art. Though early in his career, his work has already attracted attention for its precision, balance, and contemporary energy.
